This unique lithograph is among the most striking portrayals of the mighty U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, America’s flagship, ever created. It commemorates and celebrates one of America’s most powerful and versatile miltary assetts and depicts the aircraft carrier in all its glory.

Text from the Portrait:

This mighty warship, USS Kitty Hawk, takes her name from the first airplane flight near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. If that first flight by Wilbur and Orville Wright had been made from the deck of USS Kitty Hawk it would have taken nine flights just to travel from bow to stern of the ship.

Commissioned in April 1961, this 1064 foot carrier has a flight deck of more than 4.1 acres. The 80,000 ton Kitty Hawk can travel at speeds exceeding 30 knots and with her embarked air wing of 87 aircraft, she has a crew of more than 5,000 officers and men.

This work was completed in 1984.
